360˚Video Creator Meetup and Workshop: Australia | Blend Media

James King-Thompson / over 6 years ago

G'day!

In September we headed off with our partners at Facebook for a big trip to the great southern land of Australia to catch up with our 360˚ video creators, and to host some more creator meetups and workshops.

Sydney

Our first stop was the beautiful city of Sydney.

We kicked off with one of our popular workshops where the Facebook 360 team took attendees through the process of how to integrate spatial audio into future 360˚ video projects.

After the workshop we headed to the Glenmore Hotel rooftop that looks out over the Sydney Opera House. It was a real treat to watch the sun set with a drink in hand, meet new creators and discuss new projects and collaborations. There was plenty of discussion about new 360 degree video cameras, the benefits of narrative-driven content and our soon to be launched camera loan programme with Facebook.

Melbourne

Our next port of call was the arty and dynamic city of Melbourne.

After holding another media workshop, we decided we'd go out with a bang and treat our creators at the very cool penthouse space at Mon Bijou, for our final meetup down under. The panoramic city views from inside the art deco styled suite were simply breathtaking, and the food and drink flowed generously - we certainly didn't hold back there! It was great to meet our enthusiastic Melbourne based creators and hear about the projects they were working on and ideas for how we can support them to do their best work.

It was a great trip, even if the jet lag was a bit of a nightmare! Next stop Amsterdam for IBC....
