Soon after announcing our partnership with Facebook in April this year we started to plan a series of global workshops and meetups designed to help grow and nurture our fantastic 360˚ video creator community. Our London workshop and meetup took place on a beautiful sunny Thursday in June, 2017.
The workshop was held in the Facebook office in London where a number of our Blend Media creators got their hands-on some 360˚ video production experience with Chetan Gupta and Caitlin Ramrakha from the Facebook 360 team. The session kicked off with insight into some of the technicalities of spatial audio and how to integrate this into 360˚ video production. Workshop attendees also learnt some top tips and tricks for live streaming in 360˚, were introduced to new 360˚ video cameras as well as the latest Facebook 360 features for live streaming.
In the evening, we held our first London Meetup at the sleek and stylish Balcony Bar at The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. On arrival, 360˚ video creators were greeted with Champagne and a selection of delicious canapés. As the evening progressed, the bar began to fill up, the drinks were certainly flowing and people began to spill out onto the balcony overlooking the London skyline beautifully lit by a glowing sunset.
Throughout the evening, 360˚ video creators (one hundred to be precise) had the opportunity to chat to one another and discuss anything and everything 360˚. It was also a great chance to meet up with friends and make new connections and collaborations.
A very fun time was had by all....especially those guests who stayed to the end and made the most of our bar tab - tequila shots anyone?!
