For a new format, 360 video is growing fast. Really fast. Today, Facebook announced that over a million 360 videos have been uploaded to its platform.
Every day we see 360 videos that tell stories and share experiences in ways that simply aren’t possible with traditional ‘fixed frame’ video. It’s incredibly inspiring to see the work that’s being created around the globe.
We partnered earlier this year with Facebook to support the global community of creators working with 360 video. Hosting workshops and meet-ups in cities around the world has given us a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from hundreds of creators about what we can do to make it even easier for them to work with the format. We heard that people would value more educational resources and the potential to apply to borrow camera equipment.
We have since worked with Facebook to create a new page called 360 Community, offering new ways for worldwide creators to share insight and collaborate. It includes:
Access to video tutorials sourced from Blend Media’s global creative community. Experienced professionals will offer tips including how to create 360 video when using a selfie stick, working in low-light conditions with different 360 cameras and image stabilisation.
A list of upcoming creator workshops, and meet-ups, together with re-caps from previous events.
Professional creatives from our network can apply to join the Camera Loaner Program, which offers a pool of 360 cameras including the GoPro Fusion and ZCam S1 for loan. The scheme is part of Blend Media’s development of a global marketplace for professionals to market and monetise their work through its platform.
We’re incredibly proud to support the 360 video community and help creators share knowledge and continue to produce amazing new work. We’re equally committed to growing the global market for active media (including 360 video), making it easy to sell premium content in a way that’s fair and transparent.
