Blend Media and Facebook’s Weekend of Live 360° | Blend Media

The team at Blend Media have recently been working very closely with our partners over at Facebook HQ to execute our Weekend of Live 360° which, after much anticipation and hard work, began on Friday 28th July and ended on Sunday 30th July, 2017. We hand-picked 15 360˚ video creators from our network of 370+, we armed them each with appropriate 360˚ cameras and asked them to 360˚ video livestream something unique from select corners of the globe. We had creators 360˚ video live streaming from North America, South America, Europe and Asia. There were some fantastic creative ideas and levels of enthusiasm went through the roof.

The Weekend of Live 360° is our latest project with Facebook. We partnered with them in April and our collective aim is to help support and expand the worldwide 360° creator community. The activity was timed in conjunction with Facebook’s announcement of their Live 360° Ready Program launch. The focus of the Live 360° Ready Program is to enhance the live 360° video experience for both creators and their audiences. As a result, eleven 360° cameras and seven software suites are now available for the public to use. Creators can now 360˚ video livestream on Facebook in 4k, meaning audiences can enjoy sharper and more immersive live experiences.

Our Austria based creator, Project360 kicked off the weekend with an informative insight into the CERN Control Centre in Geneva, Switzerland. In case you didn’t know, CERN is the European Organisation for Nuclear Research and is one of the largest scientific research centres in the world! You can truly appreciate Facebook’s improved 360° video live streaming quality by taking a look at his live 360° video recording here using an Insta360 camera.

Our Los Angeles based creator, Experience 360, also flexed the newly improved 360° video live streaming quality capacity on Facebook. Equipped with an Orah 4i camera, he had a little trick or two up his sleeve… teaming up with the mighty magician, Alex Acosta, who successfully baffled us with his close up magic via Experience 360’sExperience 360’s 360˚ video livestream. What is this wizardry?

Every live 360˚ video livestream over the weekend was uniquely curated and we couldn’t have done it without each and everyone of our skilful creators. From the incredible energy of LifeStyle Inc, as they ran around Tokyo and the famous Shibuya Crossing, to Adam Ravtech’s world-first 360˚ video livestream from Yap Island in Indonesia. We take our hats off to you: Studio Kwo, Adam Ravtech, Project 360, Ideas Studio, LifeStyle Inc, Al Caudullo, Experience 360, Jonny Simpson Lee, Inside360, Rakka Creative, Whistle Productions, Cam Mullen, Ariel Viera, Adam Cropp Studio Kwo, Adam Ravtech, Project 360, Ideas Studio, LifeStyle Inc, Al Caudullo, Experience 360, Jonny Simpson Lee, Inside360, Rakka Creative, Whistle Productions, Cam Mullen, Ariel Viera, Adam Cropp and 360Fabriek360Fabriek.

360˚ video live streaming is undeniably a highly exciting and effective way for people to experience 360° video content from all corners of the globe. Not only are 360° videos exceptional for brands to increase engagement, but also a fun and innovative way for people to truly experience and immersive themselves in a scenario, rather than simply spectate.
